Meridian EdTech Platform

Overview

Meridian works with school districts transitioning to hybrid learning models. We built an adaptive learning platform that adjusts lesson difficulty in real time based on student performance, alongside a teacher dashboard that surfaces which students need attention without requiring teachers to dig through raw data.

The challenge

School districts are risk-averse buyers with strict procurement and data-privacy requirements (FERPA and, for younger students, COPPA), and the platform had to work reliably on the aging, shared devices many districts still use — not just modern hardware. Teachers also needed something they could adopt without extensive training.

Our approach

• Built the platform to be FERPA and COPPA compliant from the ground up, including strict data minimization for student records.
• Optimized the frontend to run smoothly on low-spec, shared school devices, with aggressive caching and a lightweight bundle.
• Designed an adaptive difficulty engine that adjusts question difficulty per student in real time based on recent performance.
• Built a teacher dashboard that translates raw performance data into a simple 'students who need attention today' view.
